8 Degrees East works in close collaboration with the United Nations, in particular one of its specialized agencies, The Universal Postal Union (UPU).  

The UPU is among the oldest existing intergovernmental organizations, based in Bern, Switzerland with over 190 member states globally.

In 2022, the UPU’s Consultative Committee expanded to accept private sector members to lead seven distinct streams that are implicated in the UPU’s efforts globally.  

These are:
- Policy & Regulation,
- Customs & Product Security,
- Financial Services,
- Addressing & Direct Marketing,
- E-Commerce Sustainability
- Freight & Transport

In 2023, 8 Degrees East was elected to be the lead of the Freight & Transport thematic chapter, along with Lars Karlsson of A.P. Moller – Maersk.  

Together they will co-lead the Consultative Committee’s work on improving the efficiency of the global postal supply chain through enhanced transportation.
